Elon Musk attacks Apple: Tesla takeover and Apple’s internet tax

Tesla boss Elon Musk and Apple are currently clashing violently. First a new book allegedly revealed the circumstances of a Tesla acquisition by Apple and now Musk Epic Games is jumping aside in the fight against Apple’s app store practice.

There is again criticism of Apple’s App Store

The swipe came as an appendix to a tweet: “He refused. Tesla was worth about 6 percent of today’s value ”. What happened? Wall Street Reporter Tim Higgins, in his new book “Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk and the bet of the Century” that there was a conversation between Tim Cook and Elon Musk, where over the acquisition of Tesla by Apple was spoken . According to Higgings, Tesla boss Musk asked to become Apple’s CEO when the deal came about.

TIM HIGGINGS IS PROBABLY WRONG

Both parties, Tim Cook and Elon Musk, contradict this story. But while Apple’s Tim Cook doesn’t want any contact at all, Musk presents his version in a recent tweet:

So he wanted contact about a possible takeover of Tesla by Apple, but Cook did not react. And here Musk taunts: “Tesla was worth about 6 percent of today’s value”. He couldn’t rub Tim Cook under the nose more clearly, which opportunity Apple missed at the time. But that’s not enough for Elon Musk.

ELON MUSK DESCRIBES APPLE’S APP STORE LEVIES AS AN INTERNET TAX

Only a short time later, Musk followed up in another tweet . Accordingly, the levy in the Apple App Store is a de facto internet tax. To put it into perspective: 30 percent of the income from app developers via the Apple app store goes to the iPhone company and there are strict rules that prevent developers from taking money from apps bypassing this system. Elon Musk adds in the tweet and takes the side of Epic Games, who would be right.

The Fortnite developer is currently filing a lawsuit against Apple, which is about whether Apple’s app store is a monopoly and whether Apple is exploiting its monopoly. This is also happening in Europe . However, the first day of the trial in the USA was marked by technical problems. Epic operates its own game store and delivers Fortnite, one of the most successful games for Android and iOS in recent years.

Apple, on the other hand, has so far held back on this topic. An official reaction is still a long way off. It is quite possible that Apple will for the time being let the attacks of the communicative Tesla boss come to nothing.
