According to a recent report, Apple is working on a change for the MacBook Pro that Steve Jobs himself described as “terrible”. Another novelty is to be introduced in line with upcoming OLED screens.

The current case is about an alleged novelty in an upcoming MacBook Pro , which Apple co-founder Steve Jobs had described as “ergonomically terrible”. The engineers in Cupertino are working on a portable Mac, which will be equipped with a touchscreen for the first time. So Mac and iPad could grow even closer together.
MACBOOK PRO WITH TOUCHSCREEN: A PREVIOUSLY UNTHINKABLE FEATURE
According to Bloomberg , Apple engineers are actively working on the project. This indicates that the company is seriously considering offering Macs with a touchscreen for the first time. As the project is not yet complete, plans are subject to change at any time.
The company has been publicly arguing for more than 10 years that touchscreens don’t work in combination with laptops. If you still want to use the technology, you should therefore rather use the iPad. PC manufacturers see things differently and have been offering Windows solutions with displays of this type for some time.
Based on internal discussions, Apple could announce the first touchscreen Mac in 2025. This is said to be a major update to the MacBook Pro. A screen with OLED technology should also be part of the new features. Current 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models use MiniLED screens. OLED is expected to be used on the iPad Pro in 2024 .
In 2010, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs said touch interfaces shouldn’t be vertically oriented. “After a long time, your arm will want to fall off,” Jobs said at the time. The current CEO Tim Cook adheres to this premise and has also not yet presented a MacBook Pro or other Mac with a touchscreen.
CHANGE OF COURSE WITH SMALL HARBINGERS
In recent years, however, there have been repeated indications that such a change at Apple is not impossible. Since 2018, developers have been able to bring iPad apps to the Mac with less effort. iPhone apps were added in 2020 and the switch to the in-house ARM processors. However, using smartphone apps on Mac can be frustrating.
For a few years, the Touch Bar also showed signs of touch inputs on the MacBook Pro. The company has now largely eliminated the small display bar above the keyboard – it only exists in the 13-inch MacBook Pro .
