DKB, Sparkasse or ING? Direct bank or branch bank? Where can you as a customer get the best possible service for your money? A study in which almost a million Germans took part shows which bank is the absolute winner.
For a long time, direct banks such as ING or DKB were an alternative to savings banks because they did not charge any fees. But a lot has changed in the direct banks since then. While accounts were free until recently, some banks now charge up to 350 euros for a simple current account . In addition, some suddenly charge fees for the EC card . In addition, there are account management fees at ING and DKB if you do not meet certain conditions. It is not easy for customers to find a bank that offers good value for money. But a study is now showing where there is a lot for a little.
THERE IS NO WAY AROUND THIS BENCH
Which bank represents good value for money? The British opinion research institute YouGov also wanted to know that. In the course of the past year, more than 900,000 online interviews were conducted and almost a million Germans were asked which bank they thought offered good value for money and which offered bad value. And the result is clear.
With 22.3 points, ING takes first place and thus offers the best value for money. The participants in the YouGov survey voted DKB second . With 14.5 points, however, the bank is far behind ING. Here we compare the two direct banks with each other .
WHERE IS THE SAVINGS BANK?
The online bank N26 came in third , followed by the Comdirect and the KfW banking group. Participants in the survey could also choose one of the 21 other banks. But few seem to have done so. The Sparkasse, Commerzbank and many other financial institutions do not make it into the top 5 and are therefore worse than ING, DKB and their direct bank competitors – at least when it comes to value for money.
