Apparently, Apple has big plans for the next generation of the iPad Air. Allegedly, one wants to improve an important feature of the mid-range tablet with a trick . Even the current iPad Pro then has to dress warmly.
Just a few months ago, Apple presented, among other things, the new iPad Pro 12.9 with a mini LED display. The new screen technology allows a better contrast, as the lighting of individual display areas can be completely deactivated. Even better in this discipline is OLED technology, which allows each individual pixel to be controlled. According to a report by The Elec , an iPad with a 10.86-inch display, possibly the iPad Air 5, will be equipped with such an OLED screen next year.
As MacRumors writes, the report suggests that this is the iPad Air 5. The current iPad Air 4 has a screen with this diagonal. In 2023, two more iPads will be equipped with OLED technology.
IPAD AIR 5 AND IPAD PRO WITH OLED DISPLAY
According to the report, the screens for the new tablet will only be supplied by Samsung Display. Apple presented the current iPad Air in September 2020, so an update in the form of the iPad Air 5 in the coming year would not be exceptional. However, the variety of display technologies used by Apple is somewhat surprising. However, there have been reports in the past that predicted OLED displays in future iPads .
While the iPad Air 5 will be presented next year, the 11- and 12.9-inch iPads will not appear until 2023. The dimensions also suggest which models are involved: We are very likely talking about the iPad Pro.
As already mentioned, Apple only introduced the iPad Pro 12.9 with mini-LED technology last April. Apple had not updated the display of the 11-inch model. If you believe the current report, it could be two years before the small professional tablet gets a new display.
IPAD PRO IN A NEW DESIGN
Even before the display is updated, the iPad Pro should get a new design. Bloomberg reported at the beginning of June that Apple wanted to replace the aluminum back with glass . This can pave the way for wireless charging, for example. So-called “reverse wireless charging” is also conceivable, in which other devices can be charged on the back of an iPad in the future. The iPad Pro in the new design is supposed to appear in the coming year.
