In addition to OLED models , LG now also offers QNED MiniLED TVs in its product portfolio. Compared to LG’s UHD televisions without NanoCell technology, the new devices have more precise color reproduction paired with more intense black reproduction. This is supplemented by a more intense contrast and more brightness. At least that is the manufacturer’s promise.
THE NEW MODEL SERIES – AVAILABLE UP TO 86 INCHES
The line-up of the new QNED MiniLED devices consists of both 8K models from the QNED99 and QNED96 series and 4K models from the QNED91 series. Screen sizes from 65 inches to 86 inches will be represented.
The international product testing agency “Intertek” certified that the new model series has one hundred percent color depth and color fastness. In this way, LG’s QNED MiniLED televisions prevent color distortions over a wide viewing angle. Regardless of the position from which a viewer sits in front of the screen, he will always be able to enjoy the color quality as if he were sitting directly in front of it.
QNED MINILED TVS – DIFFERENCES TO OTHER TVS WITH LED BACKLIGHTING
LG’s QNED MiniLED TVs use smaller LEDs in the backlight compared to conventional LCD TVs. This not only provides the models with deeper black tones, but also offers the possibility of finer details in dark areas of the image. The depth effect of the 8K television models also benefits from this, as 8K models with their higher resolution provide a greater depth effect than 4K models. The images shown appear more lifelike and intense for the audience.
According to the manufacturer, the 86-inch 8K television from LG (model 86QNED999PB) contains 30,000 built-in LED lights. These are arranged in the background lighting in such a way that there are a large number of local dimming areas. According to LG, this results in a contrast ratio that is 10 times more intense than with conventional LCD televisions. The example model mentioned has a total of 2,500 of these dimming areas. Since the zones can be controlled independently of one another, the precise control of the background lighting provides additional depth in dark film scenes. Similar to LG’s NanoCell TV models, it can be assumed that disruptive effects such as backlight bleeding or halo effects are also avoided here. A high-contrast image with a greater variety of details should also be created.
QNED MINILED TVS WITH ECO-PRODUCT CERTIFICATION
According to the manufacturer, the new product range has received eco-product certification from the Swiss SGS SA. According to the SGS eco product certification (ECO / 21 / CEBEC / 00016 and ECO / 21 / CEBEC / 00017), they are therefore certified as environmentally friendly products.
QNED MINILED TVS – EXCITING PROSPECTS
The high color fidelity from various angles as well as the promised depth effect with more intense black tones promises to be particularly exciting for the 8K models. Compared to 4K models, they can already deliver a greater depth effect. Investing in one of LG’s new QNED MiniLED models should be particularly worthwhile in rooms with a large number of viewers from different angles. The catch: LG has not yet announced any prices.
