AVM has announced new updates for its Fritz boxes. With software version 7.28, a new round is starting after the previous software 7.27 was primarily a security update. The first to get the new software are owners of these two top models.
The FragAttack update was one of the exciting topics at AVM over the past few months. The software version 7.27 was mainly distributed against the malware and the attack on Fritz boxes . Practically all Fritz boxes were supplied with 7.27 in several steps . But after there were also rumors about a “ cheap router ” from AVM, things are now back on a quieter path.
AVM UPDATES FRITZBOX 7590 AND AX VERSION WITH FRITZOS 7.28
The new software from AVM has the version number 7.28 and will initially be delivered to customers for the two top models FritzBox 7590 and 7590 AX. As is so often the case, AVM has not focused on anything, but mainly fixes bugs and other problems. There are also improvements in DSL and WLAN . Finally, AVM fixed a bug that caused problems with Apple’s macOS Big Sur version 11.3. Network drive connections could not be established via USB .
HOW TO INSTALL THE UPDATES
The easiest way to install the latest FritzOS software for your FritzBox router is directly via the browser’s user interface. You can reach it by entering the following address in your browser window with an active WiFi connection : http://fritz.box/
After entering your password, click on “System” on the left in the main menu and select the item “Update” in the submenu that opens. In the lower right corner of the browser window you can then click on “Find new Fritz! OS” and then start the update process.
Please note that your WiFi and Internet connection will be briefly interrupted during the update process. You will no longer be able to surf the Internet during this time. Your FritzBox will automatically restore the internet connection after installing the latest software patch. As a rule, a FritzBox update does not take longer than five minutes.
