Against Amazon and Google: Apple wants to storm the next market

Apple no longer wants to stand idly by as Amazon and Google dominate the smart display market. A usually well-informed insider tells us what the iPhone manufacturer has planned for this area.

It doesn’t matter whether it ‘s the Amazon Echo Show , Google Nest Hub or the previously announced Pixel Tablet – all of these devices are finding more and more fans in the smart home. Although the iPad can be used with the Home app for such purposes, Apple does not offer a direct competitor in the market for so-called smart displays. This is set to change in the future, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

SMART DISPLAY FROM APPLE: MORE THAN JUST AN IPAD?

According to the report, the iPhone maker is working on a range of new devices designed to compete with Amazon and Google. Gurman not only counts the smart displays, but also a once again faster version of the Apple TV .

However, another tablet product should make the start with the smart displays. This is supposedly simply a low-end variant of an iPad . You should be able to control smart home devices, watch videos and make FaceTime calls. But there should also be attachments for walls and other places, where magnets, among other things, should be used. Apple is positioning the solution more as a device for the home, while a regular iPad is also intended for use on the go.

According to Gurman, there were also internal discussions about offering larger smart home displays. The same goes for a stand that resembles the dock from the aforementioned Pixel Tablet. In the case of Google’s solution, this includes an integrated speaker, for example.

APPLE TV IS SUPPOSED TO BE FASTER AGAIN

In addition to the smart displays, the Cupertino-based company is also working on a new Apple TV . This should once again have the familiar design, but once again have a faster processor inside. Despite this jump in performance, 8K video is unlikely to be supported.

Both the new Smart Displays and Apple TV are not expected to appear until next year. Setbacks in development are said to have caused delays in a planned combination of Apple TV, HomePod and FaceTime camera . It was originally supposed to come out this year.
