Amazon is expanding the benefit for Prime members on Amazon Music. So far, as a Prime customer, you only had 2 million songs included in your subscription – now there are 100 million and thus the complete music catalogue. But there’s a catch.
As a Prime customer , you can now listen to the entire music catalog and most of the top podcasts on Amazon without advertising and at no extra charge, but you cannot specifically select individual songs. The complete music catalog of 100 million songs at Amazon Music is available in random mode. That means Prime members can stream any artist, album or playlist in random mode, as well as a selection of playlists on-demand.
WHAT DOES RANDOMNESS MEAN ON AMAZON MUSIC?
As a Prime user, you have access to any music that Amazon Music has in its catalogue. But if you want to select a specific song, this is not possible within the scope of this offer. You can search for the song, but clicking on it will randomly launch another song from the album you found the song on. You can also listen to complete albums – but not in the order the artists intended. Listening to audio books is so completely impossible because the tracks come to your ears in a jumble.
Amazon Music also lets you stream a selection of playlists based on your listening habits on-demand and listen offline. Many podcasts are now also available for Prime members without advertising. Among them is the Amazon-exclusive family game show Dings Versus Bums, which premieres on November 3rd. Also included is a brand new series from German comedian Kurt Krömer – “Kurt Krömer – Feelings” – available with weekly exclusive content starting November 17th. Amazon also promises exclusive bonus content here.
If you want to play every song when you want to hear it and listen to complete albums without random mode, you still have to take out an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription. This costs 8.99 euros extra to the Prime subscription .
