The MacBooks could receive even greater competition from their own house in the future. According to a new report, Apple is supposedly working on even bigger iPads. The 12.9-inch tablet would be just the beginning.
The iPad Pro with the 12.9-inch display is currently Apple’s largest tablet . The flounder could be overshadowed by even larger models in the future. This is what the usually well-informed Bloomberg report Mark Gurman reports in his newsletter .
According to the latest information, Apple’s engineers and designers are “exploring” larger iPad models. However, these should be available “in a few years at the earliest”. Bad news for those for whom the 13-inch iPad isn’t enough today.

Gurman does not give a precise indication of how big such an iPad could be. In his introduction, however, he says that Apple needs an iPad with a 14- to 16-inch display. The current 12.9-inch model is simply too small for someone who is used to a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
At the same time, the reporter would like further improvements to the app management of Apple’s iPad. Although iPadOS 15 brings some important improvements, the window management must be expanded. He would like to use several windows that can be visible at the same time and can be changed in size.
In addition, Mac apps should be able to run on the iPad – and not just the other way around. Apple’s new iPad Pro already uses the same M1 processor that is already used in the MacBook Air, Mac mini and iMac . In the run-up to WWDC , there were already hopes that Apple would allow a future iPad to use macOS as the operating system. However, Apple did not fulfill these wishes.
