Apps are getting cheaper: Apple is adjusting prices

Due to currency fluctuations, Apple is adjusting the prices of the apps in the App Store. This affects the costs of the applications in the German store. In addition to the actual apps, the prices of in-app purchases are also changing.

Apple is lowering prices in the German App Store

Apple divides the prices in the App Store for developers into different classes, so-called tiers. These range from free apps for $ 0.00 all the way up to $ 999.99. The global prices that Apple is now adjusting in some regions – including the German App Store – are tied to these dollar values. In short: Apps for iPhone , iPad and Mac are becoming cheaper.

For example, an overview of the old prices and animals can still be found at equinux . As Apple announced in the update for its developers , the prices for apps and in-app purchases will be adjusted shortly. For purchases in the German App Store, this means a reduction in prices. However, according to Apple, the changes do not apply to subscriptions that renew automatically.

APPLE LOWERS PRICES IN THE GERMAN APP STORE

If the app cost in Tier 1, the first level above the free app, previously 1.09 euros is now due 0.99 euros. At the other end of the scale, in the highest tier 87, 1,099.99 euros were due so far – after the adjustment it is only 999.99 euros here.

A direct comparison with the dollar prices shows that the future prices in Germany match these 1: 1. For an app or an in- app purchase that costs 39.99 US dollars in the US app store, for example, Apple charges 39.99 euros in the German store. Before the adjustment it was 43.99 euros. In this example, you could save 4 euros thanks to the adjustment.

The old and new app store prices compared

Apple did not mention a specific date from when the changes will apply. The company only speaks of “in the coming days”. So if you intend to buy an expensive app or an expensive in-app purchase soon , you should check beforehand whether Apple has already adjusted the prices. Maybe you can save yourself a few euros. But it is of course also possible that some developers – after the adjustment by Apple – move their app to the next higher tier.
