Attention: New small car as a cheap e-car

Ferrari? We all know. Fiat and Alfa Romeo as well. But have you ever heard of DR Automobiles? Based in Macchia d’Isernia, this Italian car manufacturer has now presented a small electric car that at first glance is reminiscent of a Smart Fortwo.

The DR 1.0 EV is rolled out as a smart alternative.

The DR 1.0 EV electric car, which weighs just under 1.1 tons, has an output of 45 kW (61 hp); with a maximum torque of 150 Nm. Equipped with rear-wheel drive, it can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in five seconds, according to the manufacturer. From 0 to 100 km/h it takes a leisurely 17 seconds. The maximum possible speed is limited to 120 km/h. The range in the WLTP urban cycle should be almost 300 kilometers thanks to recuperation , and up to 210 kilometers are possible in the combined cycle. A 31 kWh battery with an eight-year guarantee (up to 100,000 kilometers) is installed.

DR 1.0 EV: SMALL LIKE A SMART, BUT BETTER EQUIPPED

The energy store can be recharged via a CCS Combo2 charging socket using alternating current (AC) with up to 6.6 kW. No speed intoxication is achieved at public fast charging stations, but DC charging is possible with direct current with up to 40 kW. A charge from 20 to 80 percent should take about 35 minutes under optimal conditions. However, our recent test of the Cupra Born has shown that it usually takes much longer, especially in winter. And even with the Kia EV6 (test), charging at cool temperatures was much slower than expected.

In addition to air conditioning, a 3.5-inch digital cockpit, a charging cradle for the smartphone and a 9.7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment functions, the purely electric city car is also equipped with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto . 110 liters can be stowed in the trunk as standard. If desired, the volume can be increased to up to 630 liters. The car rolls over the streets on 15-inch alloy wheels.

The rear of the DR 1.0 EV is also strongly reminiscent of the Smart Fortwo.

WITH ENVIRONMENTAL BONUS UNDER 20,000 EUROS

Although it is a small car that is only 3.20 meters long with only four seats, the price for the DR 1.0 EV before any subsidies is quite high. In Italy, the price tag is an impressive 25,900 euros. The price is still driven by the rather expensive battery technology. In Germany you could currently deduct an environmental bonus of 6,000 euros, which would drop the price to less than 20,000 euros. Theoretically. Because so far there are no plans to bring the small car to Germany. The car is built in China and exported from there to Europe by sea . The vehicles from DR Automobiles are based on the model range of the Chinese manufacturer Chery.
