AVM: The FritzOS 7.50 update continues

It has been more than a month since the Berlin router manufacturer brought its long-awaited update to FritzOS 7.50 to the first FritzBox. Now it goes on: The next device gets the new firmware.

With the FritzRepeater 2400 , the first repeater from AVM gets the update to the new firmware. This amplifier for your WLAN home network had long since received the FritzLabor software for the new FritzOS . Other current repeaters such as FritzRepeater 6000, 3000 and 1200 AX already have the beta firmware for testing – but not the official FritzOS 7.50 to date . But it should only be a matter of time before this happens.

Unsurprisingly, a lot has changed in the area of the WLAN settings for the FritzRepeater with the update. As examples, AVM cites the manual configuration of WLAN channels regardless of the maximum channel width (5 GHz band), improved interoperability with various WLAN devices, improved radar and an improved WLAN auto-channel function. As an important highlight, AVM itself presents improved dynamic smart repeating. It should enable higher data throughputs for end devices connected to the FritzRepeater.

Numerous other features that come with FritzOs 7.50 on the FritzBox are not available for the repeater because they are reserved for the routers. This is, for example, the improved VPN with Wireguard.

Important: The update from AVM is not currently being delivered via the automatic update. Rather, you have to call up the admin interface of the repeater via https://fritz.repeater and start the update there.

AVM: FRITZAPP TV WITH UPDATE

Also new is an update of the FritzApp TV for iOS . The version number 2.1.1 also brings an improvement for users who have already installed FritzOS 7.50 or the current laboratory version on their FritzBox. In addition, FritzAppTV should now be easier to set up. The TV function of the FritzBox should be activated directly via the application and a channel search started. For Android, the improvements came in December. Version 2.1.1 of FRITZ!App TV for Android was released in December.
