DAZN is preparing for the restart of the 2021/2022 football season. The streaming service will then show more Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League matches than ever before. Now there are various new details to report from the DAZN universe.
DAZN continues to do everything to keep its own customers happy with attractive sports rights. The sports streaming provider is starting “a new era” at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, as stated in a company release. And that is not even an exaggeration, because in the coming years DAZN will not only show all the Bundesliga soccer games that take place on Friday and Sunday live and exclusively, but also almost the entire UEFA Champions League . And that’s not all.
DAZN SHOWS MORE AND MORE BUNDESLIGA GAMES
In the Champions League , DAZN will be able to watch 15 of 16 games per game day individually and exclusively in the conference during the group phase starting next season . In the Bundesliga , DAZN will exclusively show 103 of 306 games in the coming season. Especially for the pay TV broadcaster Skywhere the Champions League will no longer play a role from the coming season and where most of the Sunday Bundesliga games have so far been seen, that’s a bitter blow. Commentators Michael Born and Joachim Hebel are also moving from Sky to DAZN. In addition, Laura Wontorra, known from RTL’s prime-time program, will also be used. The contracts of Jan Platte and Marco Hagemann, who have been working for the streaming service since it started in 2016, were extended.
On Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. DAZN will in future present interested football fans in a linear summary of the highlights of all Bundesliga games in the afternoon. The station intends to expand the preliminary coverage of the top games in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. Further show formats are currently being developed that will be shown daily during the week and on the weekend afternoons parallel to the Bundesliga live games on DAZN.
DISADVANTAGE: THE SUBSCRIPTION BECOMES MORE EXPENSIVE
The only bitter thing for all football fans is that DAZN will cost more money for both new and existing customers in the future . Annual membership is now available for EUR 149.99, which is equivalent to just under EUR 12.50 per month. So far, and until the start of the new season, it is 119.99 euros per year; That is the equivalent of just under 10 euros per month. If you take out a subscription now, you can still save money . The flexible monthly subscription will also cost more in the future. Namely 14.99 euros. So far it’s only 11.99 euros.
By the way: DAZN will also be showing the football Bundesliga live on Fridays and Sundays in Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. The same applies to Austria, where DAZN is also allowed to co-exclusively show all UEFA Champions League games through a cooperation with Sky Austria.
Only a few days ago it was also announced that DAZN will be allowed to appear as global broadcaster of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the next four seasons. However, all games will not initially disappear behind a paywall, but will be streamed freely on YouTube until mid-2023. Only then will the women’s Champions League games be viewed directly at DAZN and therefore for a fee.
DAZN STARTS OFFERING FOR CATERING BUSINESSES
Meanwhile, there is also good news for all catering establishments. Pubs, sports bars or restaurants in Germany can conclude a special contract with DAZN in order to be able to show the program publicly on their own premises. Gastronomy businesses receive a DAZN TV box with a pre-installed app. They can be used to access the live sports portfolio specially tailored for the catering industry.
What does it cost to be able to show DAZN in a restaurant? 250 euros per month with a minimum contract term of twelve months. In addition, there is a one-time fee of 60 euros for the TV box. During the first year, this results in an average monthly price of just under 26 euros. Incidentally, it does not matter in this context how big the location is where the DAZN is to be seen publicly. The price is always the same
Restaurateurs who decide to subscribe are also allowed to show the Spanish LaLiga for at least five more seasons; with all games of the first Spanish league live and exclusively. Fans of Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, FC Barcelona, FC Sevilla or other Spanish clubs cannot avoid a visit to the nearest DAZN sports bar or their own DAZN subscription.
