Charging e-cars: Simple electricity charging is also tightening the price screw

The next known provider of inexpensive e-car charging tariffs is worsening its conditions. From August you will have to dig deeper into your pockets if you want to supply your electric car with new energy via simple electricity charging.

E-car charging via EinfachStromLaden will be more expensive from August 2021.

Next, please. Maingau Energie is also raising the prices for its charging tariffs for e-cars. The EinfachStromLaden brand makes charging electric cars more expensive, but at least maintains a clear tariff structure. Nevertheless: From August 1, 2021, price increases of up to 16 percent will result for car electricity customers.

SIMPLYSTROMLADEN: THE NEW PRICES FROM AUGUST 2021

So far, EinfachStromLaden has not only been characterized by simple, but also affordable prices for charging e-cars. At AC charging stations you have to pay 38 cents per kWh charged, at fast DC charging stations it is 48 cents. Starting in August, prices for AC columns will be increased by almost 16 percent, and for DC stations by as much as 12.5 percent. The kWh then increases to 44 (AC columns) or 54 cents (DC columns).

Charging is cheaper, but also a little more expensive, for Maingau Energie customers who also use the provider’s electricity or gas tariff. In future, you can charge AC columns for 30 cents per kWh, while DC columns are charged at 40 cents in kWh. That is 2 cents per kWh more than before.

At IONITY fast charging stations, the kWh price is still an expensive 75 cents. In other EU countries you will also have to expect higher costs in the future at all charging stations supported by EinfachStromLaden. Up to 91 cents per kWh are then due there. At all AC charging stations you also have to pay 10 cents per minute of downtime from the 241st minute. This surcharge applies to DC columns from the 61st minute. There is still no basic or starting fee for each charging process with EinfachStormLaden abr.

OTHER PROVIDERS HAVE ALSO INCREASED THEIR PRICES

The price increase from Maingau Energie fits in seamlessly with price increases from other providers. EnBW had already started at the end of May , when the prices for emobility + were increased in some cases drastically . Shell Recharge followed in mid-June , sometimes with heavy surcharges, while PlugSurfing recently moderately lowered prices again after a previous price increase . Maingau Energie justifies the new prices with a “non-influenceable development of the prices of charging station operators in the European automotive electricity market”, as it says in a customer email.

An alternative to charging tariffs that bill according to the kWh actually charged can be the flat rate offer from elvah for you . Here you pay a monthly flat rate and can then charge your e-car as often as you like. But this is primarily only worthwhile for frequent drivers. For infrequent drivers, elvah offers a flex tariff, where charging an electric car costs 36 cents per kWh in the best case. And that should stay that way for the time being, as elvah product manager Sören Ziems revealed in an interview with inside digital just a few days ago .
