The optimal use of PDF has therefore become a must, especially on mobile devices. The editorial team presents apps that can handle this format particularly well.

The Portable Document Format has established itself as a medium in digital communication in recent years. In contrast to Office documents, the formatting looks the same on all platforms and with special functions, for example, forms with input options can be implemented quickly and in a user-friendly manner.
Adobe Reader
PDF files can be viewed directly in many apps such as Mail. If this does not work in one or the other app, Adobe Reader can be used. Recently viewed files can be quickly accessed via the history. Documents can also be shared via the Adobe.com cloud service, but registration is required. You can also add your own comments and fill out forms. However, if a PDF is protected, it cannot be changed.
PDF Expert (professional PDF documents reader)
The best tool to edit PDFs on iOS devices is Readdle’s PDF Expert. This app should not be missing on any iPad. A variety of tools are available for editing PDFs. Examples of this are inserting or deleting pages, adding comments, filling out forms, inserting stamps, digitally signing and much more.
In addition, the most important cloud storage facilities such as Google Drive, SkyDrive or Dropbox can be accessed. The integration of WebDAV and FTP servers is also possible.
ezPDF Reader – Multimedia PDF
The ezPDF Reader is a multifunctional tool to edit PDF files. In addition to numerous functions for annotations, the order of the pages or the orientation (portrait or landscape) can be changed. Although direct access is only possible for Dropbox and Google Docs, documents can still be passed on to the ezPDF reader using the standard Android function of the cloud apps. Saving files works the same way. Although the app is only available in English, you can quickly find your way around with the clear toolboxes.
qPDF Notes – PDF Reader Pro
Another powerful tool for editing PDF files is qPDF. A wide variety of annotations and images can be inserted into PDFs via an easy-to-use toolbar. The subsequent editing of the inserted elements is also very easy to carry out via the properties dialog. The cloud storage Dropbox, Google Drive and Box can also be accessed directly. Functions such as changing the order of the pages or deleting pages are completely absent. For this purpose, documents can be digitally signed with the help of appropriate certificates.
Website to PDF
This WP8 app creates PDF files directly from web pages. The handling is very simple: search for the website or enter the link directly and select “Save to pdf”. A PDF is already generated from the current website and stored on the smartphone. An Internet connection is required to convert the page into a PDF file, as the conversion takes place on a server.
Web to PDF
To create a PDF from a website on iOS devices, a solution such as Web to PDF from DAR Software is recommended. A website is called up in the app and then converted to PDF using a button. This file can then be passed on to other apps (e.g. Dropbox). In addition, a number of functions are available for annotations or for rearranging the individual PDF pages. A link can be saved as a bookmark in the Safari browser, via which the current website is transferred directly to Web to PDF. It is therefore not necessary to call up the app separately.
Website to PDF PRO
For Android devices, the Website to PDF PRO app allows you to convert web pages to PDF files. The operation is kept very simple and clear. The current website is transferred from the standard browser to Website to PDF PRO, where it is converted to PDF using a button. Settings such as portrait / landscape format or the transfer of links can be defined in the options. Converted files remain stored in the app and can be transferred to an application for viewing and / or management at any time.
WritePDF
Sometimes it is necessary to convert emails to PDFs. If this is not supported by the mail client used, WritePDF could be the right solution here. WritePDF is an all-in-one solution. PDFs can be created from Office documents, edited and annotated, from websites or from e-mails. This app is particularly good at converting emails to PDFs. Created PDFs can then be stored in the app or in cloud storage.
