Watch movies and series while traveling by train. You no longer have to be a streaming service customer or download content to your phone in advance. Because the train has a new offer.
If you travel by train, you have time to take care of yourself – and to read, watch films or series or do other things. It is not for nothing that Deutsche Bahn advertises itself with such a slogan. But in order to stream content, you often had to load it onto your cell phone so that your data volume is not too heavily used or so that you can watch it smoothly despite the dead spots along the route . That is now changing again.
DEUTSCHE BAHN CREATES A NEW, WELL-KNOWN OFFER
Long train journeys in particular are predestined for watching series and films. A few years ago, Deutsche Bahn cooperated with streaming services for precisely these purposes, most recently with Maxdome. The offer has since disappeared, but this year the railway is upgrading again.
The streaming service Paramount+, which has just started in Germany, is literally brought on board. This has been available in Germany since the beginning of December and, due to its history as a film studio, brings with it a large catalog of films and series. You can’t access it completely while traveling with Deutsche Bahn. However, some titles have been pre-selected for you as a traveller.
These include, for example, the series “Star Trek: Discovery”, “The Lost City – The Secret of the Lost City”, “Mission: Impsisible: Fallout” or “Paw Patrol: The Movie”. Even the brand new film adaptation of Simon Beckett’s “The Chemistry of Death” celebrated its German premiere on the ICE.
HOW TO USE PARAMOUNT+ ON THE TRAIN
Paramount+ is not available on all Deutsche Bahn trains, only on ICEs. The offer can be used free of charge. That means you don’t have to pay to stream content while you’re on the train, nor do you have to be a Paramount+ customer.
The streaming platform is available via the ICE portal . You can access this when you log into the ICE WLAN with your smartphone, tablet or laptop and accept the terms of use.
The cooperation between Paramount+ and Deutsche Bahn is only valid until March 31st. It remains to be seen whether both parties will extend them thereafter.
