Deutschlandticket app is here: This is how you get the 49-euro ticket

It is not yet clear when the Deutschlandticket (also known as the 49-euro ticket) will start – but it already has an app. The app is intended to sell tickets. But not everyone should be happy with it.

The Deutschlandticket app is here, although the Deutschlandticket isn’t even there yet. But the app is not a fake and not a scam. It comes from the IT company HanseCom, which already implements the ticket apps for numerous transport associations. In this function, HanseCom has now also brought the Deutschlandticket app to the app stores for iPhone and Android . Here you can already pre-order the 49-euro ticket and then use it as a mobile phone ticket in the future. Whether that makes sense now remains to be seen.

DEUTSCHLANDTICKET-APP OFFERS TICKETS IN ADVANCE

After the download you have to register once in the app with your personal data and payment data. If you are already using the HandyTicket Deutschland app, you can also use the access data here. According to HanseCom, this applies to at least two million people. Once the data is stored, you can pre-order the Deutschlandticket. As soon as the official sale begins, you will automatically receive the mobile phone ticket every month.

When booking, you are free to choose which mobility provider you want to purchase the Deutschlandticket from. Around 20 transport companies and associations from all over Germany are already on board when the app is launched. For you and the ticket, it doesn’t matter whether you buy the ticket from a transport association in Munich, Hamburg or Berlin – it’s the same everywhere. And this is where the problem could lie. Because the provider you choose gets your money. Ideally, this should be the transport association in your home region, as this is where you will use the ticket the most. But since it doesn’t matter, users could simply use the first provider in the list. The “Bahnen der Stadt Mohnheim” would therefore be happy about an above-average amount of income.

LAUNCH PLANNED FOR APRIL OR MAY

However, the distribution key behind the Deutschlandticket has not yet been finalized. It is therefore possible that adjustments will be made here accordingly. In transport associations such as the VBB in Berlin-Brandenburg, the transport companies receive a proportionate commission for the sale of a ticket, the rest of the ticket price flows into a large pot for further distribution.

The Deutschlandticket is the successor to the popular 9-euro ticket from last summer. It will cost 49 euros per month when it is introduced, hence the nickname 49-euro ticket. However, the price will probably rise quickly. Like the 9-euro ticket, the Germany ticket is to be valid in 2nd class for local and regional transport throughout Germany. It will be available as a subscription and can be canceled on a monthly basis. Politicians and transport companies are currently targeting April 1 or May 1, 2023 as the starting time.
