With this storage contract, you once allowed DHL to put your parcels in a defined location in case you are not at home. This can be your terrace , the carport or the open garage. So far, the delivery staff have usually rang the bell to give you the package in person. But now the messengers don’t have to do just that anymore. Instead, you can position the package directly at the storage location.
But there is a way that DHL will continue to ring your doorbell despite the storage contract: If you have stored a storage location with DHL, you can specify online or via the DHL app in your customer account that the courier should ring first despite the storage option. If you work from home, for example, you can continue to accept the package directly.
If you have had your filing contract with DHL for so long that you don’t even have a DHL customer account, you can now use an online form . To do this, you need a user ID that you received from DHL in the mail or that you can see on your letters from DHL. If you have not yet defined a storage location with DHL, but want to do so, you can do so via your user account on dhl.de or in the DHL app.
By the way: Even if you do not have a storage contract, DHL deliverers can simply continue driving with many parcels and do not need to ring the doorbell. This involves parcels with cash on delivery payments or Post-Ident. Due to the corona pandemic, it is up to the deliverers whether they want to deliver them directly to the customer and expose themselves to customer contact. If you don’t want that, you can take the parcel to the nearest suitable branch. From DHL’s point of view, hygiene measures can be adhered to better there.
