Apple is apparently planning a display offensive. Both Macs and other iPads are said to be delivered with the new mini-LED technology, which among other things allows better contrast. The big iPad Pro made the start.
Apple presented a new iPad Pro last spring , which – in the 12.9-inch version – will be delivered with a new display. The mini-LED technology allows, among other things, a better contrast compared to classic LCDs. This is possible by switching off the background lighting in individual areas.
Mini-LED will apparently soon be found in other Apple hardware, as several reports describe. In addition to a new MacBook Pro, a future MacBook Air and even the iPad mini with the new displays could come along.
MACBOOK AIR AND MACBOOK PRO WITH MINI LED DISPLAY
Like MacRumors reported, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, two new models of the MacBook Pro are expected for the coming fall. Specifically, Gurman speaks of a presentation of the newly designed 14- and 16-inch models between September and November 2021.
Apples had previously planned to introduce the new MacBook Pros earlier. Problems in the production of the mini LED displays are said to have caused the delays. In addition to new displays, revised versions of the M1 chip will also find their way into the new notebooks.
MacRumors also documents the Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo with statements about a future MacBook Air. Apple should therefore introduce an Air with a 13.3-inch display in the middle of next year, which also has a mini-LED display. A faster M1 processor should also be used here. Instead of seven or eight GPU cores, the new MacBook Air should then have nine or ten.
IPAD MINI: NEW DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY OR NOT?
A further report further describes the alleged use of mini-LED in the expected for the coming autumn iPad Mini 6 . The new mini tablet is said to be very similar to the design of the iPad Air 5. According to the latest reports, an Apple A15 chip is supposed to work inside , which is also supposed to fuel the upcoming iPhone 13 .
However, the announcement about the new display technology in the iPad mini was questioned shortly after the publication of the Digitimes report. Display analyst Ross Young writes on Twitter that he received different information during a conversation with the alleged supplier. The iPad mini 6 should therefore not be equipped with a mini LED display.
