Google Doodle: This is how the group honors the start of the Olympic Games

On the occasion of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where competitors can compete for medals from July 23rd to August 8th, Google has now come up with a little surprise with one of its biggest doodles.

This free Google Doodle will be available at the start of Olympia 2021.

The fact that the Olympic Games had to be postponed last year due to the corona pandemic was a great disappointment for the land of the rising sun. The joy is now all the greater, despite the restrictions caused by the hygiene measures, to welcome athletes from all over the world and to open the largest competition in international sporting comparison.

GOOGLE IS DEVELOPING DOODLE IN THE STYLE OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES

Together with Japanese developers, Google has decided to stage its company logo in a way that is fair to the Olympic Games. With the “Isle of Champions”, the browser game for PC and smartphone will be available in 16-bit look. The Studio4 ° C lives up to classic games from the past with its retro graphics. The calico cat “Lucky” takes you to battle in seven different disciplines on the island. Whether archery, table tennis, skateboarding, rugby, artificial swimming, climbing or running a marathon: Lucy has to assert herself. At the beginning of the Google Doodle, you can also choose between a team color, the four Google logo colors.

GAME WITH A JAPANESE CULTURAL TWIST

The Google Doodle is supposed to do justice to the Olympic Games on the one hand, but also to its venue on the other. With their production, those involved want to bring the players closer to Japanese culture , also outside of sport. Inspired by Japanese folklore from 47 different prefectures in Japan, the game is a cultural experience in itself. Historical characters who have a historical reference to the respective sports were included.

Since women were often considered scary in Japanese fairy tales, the production sets an example with the integration of female characters. The calico cat Lucky is no exception. The Google Doodle is aimed at all age groups and tries to incorporate classic game mechanisms into a Doodle. The seven mini-games represent in the big world, a homage to earlier games and should show the player that virtual games are just as much fun as outdoor sports.

So if you fancy a Japanese atmosphere while cheering on your athletes in front of the TV, you might play one or the other sport yourself. Virtual, of course.
