iPhone 2022: This is what awaits you in the coming year

A new report explains the changes iPhone users can look forward to in 2022. For a smartphone model that is currently still available, the future looks bleak, for example due to allegedly poor sales figures.

It will probably be around three months before the iPhone 13 (or iPhone 12s) is presented. In the current report by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, however, it is already about the iPhone 2022 – i.e. the smartphones that will probably only be served in the course of the coming year.

Specifically, the analyst speaks, among other things, about the ” regular updates ” of Apple’s smartphone range. But another model of the iPhone SE is also part of the memo that MacRumors received.

IPHONE 2022: ONLY TWO SIZES LEFT, BUT WITH TOUCH ID

As a reminder: The iPhone in mini format is to drop out of Apple’s smartphone range next year and be replaced by another 6.7-inch model . This means that the “iPhone 14” would only be available with 6.1- and 6.7-inch displays.

If you believe Ming-Chi Kuo’s current memo, Touch ID should at least be part of some of the upcoming iPhone variants. The fingerprint sensor placed under the display could then be found in the “iPhone 14 Max” in order to be able to reduce costs. According to Kuo, the 6.7-inch model will cost less than $ 900. For comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro Max currently costs at least $ 1,099.

The Pro models are also to receive a new 48-megapixel sensor for the wide-angle lens. The analyst does not name changes to the ultra-wide-angle or telephoto camera of the iPhone 2022 in the current report.

IPHONE SE 3: THE “CHEAPEST 5G IPHONE OF ALL TIME”

While the four new models of the iPhone 14 are expected to appear in autumn 2022, a new iPhone SE is expected to appear in the first half of the coming year . So it could be a spring event again. According to Kuo, Apple’s design is largely based on the current iPhone SE 2 , which is based on the iPhone 8 .

As usual, the changes are inside the entry-level iPhone. The California-based company is said to be planning to use a chip that will support 5G . Kuo describes this model as the “cheapest 5G iPhone ever”. So far, this title belongs to the iPhone 12 mini , which Apple currently costs at least 799 euros. For the iPhone SE 2020, Apple charges 479 euros.

In the current report on Ming-Chi Kuo’s iPhone 2022, however, there is no evidence of a larger “iPhone SE Plus”. So it is currently unclear whether this will appear in the future. Some rumors have spoken of a 6.1-inch model due to see the light of day in 2023.
