The Lidl annual packages are only available this weekend (3rd / 4th July 2021). So if you want to dust one off too, you have to be quick. We’ll show you the differences to the very similar annual packages from Aldi Talk and what you have to pay attention to before buying.
Lidl counters Aldi. After the food discounter from Essen had pushed ahead with new annual mobile phone packages , the matching counterpart from Neckarsulm is now following. Lidl Connect is also offering its own annual packages until July 4th. As with Aldi, there are three, and the tariff structure was adjusted to the offer from Aldi Talk at the start almost a month ago. The core of the offer: You buy a prepaid mobile phone tariff for a whole year. A voice and SMS flat rate is included in all tariffs. Also an internet flat rate.
LIDL CONNECT ANNUAL PACKAGES: EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED FOR 1 YEAR
Regardless of whether you opt for the annual package XS, S or L, you get plenty of data volume. Not every month, however, but once for a whole year. You have to split up 12 GB (XS), 50 GB (S) or 100 GB (L) over 365 days. Lidl Connect originally advertised 40 GB of data in the S package, but now offers 50 GB just like Aldi Talk. In purely mathematical terms, 1 GB of LTE data volume is available month after month for 5 euros (XS), 4.1 GB for 8.33 euros (S) and 8.3 GB for 12.41 euros (L). Incidentally, not only in Germany, but also in other EU countries via EU roaming. The maximum possible download speed is 25 Mbit / s in the annual packages XS and S and even 50 Mbit / s in the annual package L. In the upload it is up to 10 Mbit / s (XS, S) or a maximum of 25 Mbit / s in package L – depending on local availability. If the data volume is used up, it only goes on at 64 Kbit / s.

A starter package costs 9.99 euros one-time , but also includes 10 euros starting credit.
OTHER ALLNET FLAT RATES IN COMPARISON
If you compare other triple flat rates with the annual packages from Lidl, it quickly becomes clear that the offer from Lidl Connect can absolutely face the competition. Because 3 GB LTE data volume in the Vodafone network usually costs at least 9 euros apart from Lidl Connect, with Vodafone itself you have to pay just under 10 euros per four weeks via the CallYa Allnet Flat S. We are currently not aware of tariffs with 8 GB LTE data volume, but a comparison can still be made. For example, an all-network flat rate with 7 GB LTE data volume at freenet Mobile currently costs just under 10 euros – but only with a maximum of 21.6 Mbit / s downstream. 10 GB LTE data volume in the Vodafone network currently costs at least 13.99 euros -also available from freenet mobile.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ALDI TALK AND LIDL CONNECT ANNUAL PACKAGES
The most important difference in comparison with the packages from Aldi: Lidl Connect uses a different cellular network. While the Telefónica Deutschland network forms the basis for Aldi Talk, it is the Vodafone network for Lidl Connect. In addition, Lidl Connect offers the higher speed with the L-package. If your mobile data volume is used up, you can book additional volume:
DayFlat : 10 GB for 4.99 euros per 24 hours
XS option: 1 GB for 2.99 euros per four weeks
S option: 2 GB for 3.99 euros per four weeks
L Option: 5 GB for 7.99 euros per four weeks
While the XS option can be booked in all three annual packages, the S option is limited to the S and L annual packages. The L option is only available in the L annual package. With regard to the maximum available download speed, the annual package booked is also decisive in the options. Only the Day Flat is generally available with 50 Mbit / s in the downstream.
Important: If you want to use the Lidl Connect annual package again after a year, you must expressly communicate this request to the provider. Otherwise there will be a changeover to the Classic prepaid tariff, which can be supplemented with various options. Each minute of a call within Germany costs 9 cents in the basic tariff. The same applies to every SMS sent. Data connections are blocked in the Classic tariff.
