More popular than Samsung and Apple: This is the new mobile phone giant in Europe

They have long been established in their home market, but the former startup has also made a name for itself in Europe. Xiaomi is growing more and more and is now getting a new mega-success.

Cell phones from Samsung, Xiaomi or Apple?
This number surprises even experts

The second quarter of the year is over and the big question arises: who are the winners and who are the losers? In the mobile phone market in particular, constant change is always causing new surprises. Currently, Xiaomi in particular can turn the tide in his favor.

XIAOMI CELEBRATES TRIUMPHANT ADVANCE

For the first time in its time on the smartphone market, Xiaomi can leave the competition behind – and that outside of China, of all places. In the second quarter of 2021, the company was able to secure first place among the most popular mobile phone manufacturers in Europe. This is what the current analysis by the market research institute Strategy Analytics says . As a result, Xiaomi recorded a growth of over 67.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The reason for this growth is the sale of smartphones, which the manufacturer was able to increase significantly: 12.7 million cell phones were sold by Xiaomi in Q2 2021. The Mi and Redmi series in particular are popular with consumers. The result: a market share in Europe of 25.3 percent. With this, the Chinese overtake Europe for the first time, both Samsung and Apple . While Samsung has to accept a decline of 7 percent with 12 million devices sold in Q2 2021, Apple is in third place. Despite a growth of 15.7 percent, the iPhone creator can only reserve 19.2 percent of the European market share for itself. Samsung is just behind Xiaomi with 24 percent.

The mobile phone manufacturers can secure these market shares in Europe in Q2 2021.

CHINESE STARTUPS ON THE ADVANCE WORLDWIDE

In addition to the top 3, the same trend is emerging in Europe as in China and worldwide. Samsung and Apple are still among the most popular manufacturers. But Chinese startups like Vivo , Oppo or Realme want to move forward and displace established manufacturers. Worldwide, Apple is also currently in third place in the ranking; Samsung was still able to secure the top here. Huawei now plays no role at all worldwide and only a minor role even in China . Most recently, the former mobile phone giant flew out of the top 5 in its home market.
