It won’t even be a month before the who’s who of the international mobile phone and smartphone scene will meet again in Barcelona. A wealth of new 5G smartphones should be on display at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). It is correspondingly quiet on the smartphone market at the moment. However, there are still a few new products to marvel at.

HUAWEI
Huawei Nova 6 (5G)
New for the Chinese market: the Huawei nova 6 and the matching 5G model nova 6 5G . Both smartphones are equipped with a 6.57 inch LCD screen (1,080 x 2,400 pixels). The core is the Kirin 990 processor, developed by Huawei itself, with 8 GB of RAM at its side. Personal data can be stored in the 128 GB memory. The 5G model is also optionally available with 256 GB of storage. According to Huawei, it is not possible to expand the data repository.
About the cameras: There are three available on the back (40 + 8 + 8 megapixels), and two on the front (32 + 8 megapixels). The front camera is integrated directly into the display at the top left, which certainly does not suit everyone’s taste. Other features include a 4,100 mAh battery (4,200 mAh for the 5G model), Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.
Whether and if so when the two new Nova 6 smartphones from Huawei will also come to Germany is still unclear at the moment. In China, the two new phones cost the equivalent of 410 euros (LTE) and 490 euros (5G). Incidentally, the models available there do not support LTE Band 20, which is important for Germany .
Huawei Y6s
No longer brand new, but also a smartphone novelty from the more recent days: the
entry-level model Huawei Y6s . It is available for just under 160 euros and, based on Android 9, offers 32 GB of storage space (regionally also available as a 64 GB version) and 3 GB of RAM. The Helio P35 from MediaTek is responsible for the drive.
The TFT-LCD display (6.1 inches) offers a comparatively low resolution of 720 x 1,560 pixels, at the lower end there is a rather bulky edge by today’s standards. But this is not uncommon, especially in the entry-level class. A bit disappointing: You will only find one camera on the front and back. The sensor on the back has a resolution of up to 13 megapixels, the front camera with a maximum of 8 megapixels.
VIVO X30 (PRO) 5G
The new Vivo smartphones X30 5G and X30 Pro 5G are now available . As the name suggests, both models not only work in LTE networks, but also support 5G. The 6.44-inch AMOLED display is only bothered by a small camera recess in the top right corner. On the back of the normal X30 5G there are three cameras (64 + 32 + 8 megapixels), the X30 Pro 5G is even equipped with a fourth lens.
Vivo opted for Samsung for the CPU supplier . According to the Exynos 980, the South Korean is installed. A bit of a shame: Only Android 9 is preinstalled – along with an adapted user interface Funtouch OS. The internal memory is limited to 128 GB, 8 GB of RAM should also be used for smooth use.
The Vivo X30 5G currently costs 489 euros in specialist shops . The Pro model is even a whopping 100 euros more
ATHESI
Are you looking for a robust and waterproof smartphone? Then the new models from the French manufacturer Athesi could also be an alternative. The models AP5701, AP5801 and AP6301 have in common: They are driven by the Helio P70 processor from MediaTek , 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space are available. Also on board: IP68 and MIL-STD-810-G certification.
With the AP5701 model, you can look forward to a 5,580 mAh battery. Also on a 5.7 inch display. The display of its big brother, the AP5801, is only slightly larger, 5.8 inches. The battery is still smaller: 4,380 mAh. Special feature: It is able to recognize volatile organic compounds that could be harmful to health.
You can count on a whopping 6,580 mAh with the AP6301, which is also equipped with a 6.3-inch display. There is also a thermal imaging camera on the back. It locates heat sources and converts them into a thermal image that the user can see and measure.
WIKO
Wiko View 3 Pro (64 GB)
Not new, but now available in a cheaper version: the Wiko View 3 Pro . Instead of the usual 128 GB of storage space, the € 249 smartphone only offers 64 GB of storage space. In addition, only 4 instead of the usual 6 GB of RAM are available. The rest of the equipment of the two smartphone siblings is identical.
Curious: The poorly equipped Wiko 3 Pro (64 GB) currently costs 50 euros more on Amazon than the Wiko Wiew 3 Pro (128 GB). Because the View 3 Pro is currently available there for 199 euros . The 128 GB model normally costs 50 euros more than its smaller sister model.
Wiko Y70
The Wiko Y70 , which has not yet been officially announced in Germany, is now available in Portugal for less than 100 euros. The equipment includes a 6-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1,440 pixels, an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a front camera with 5 megapixels. Also on board the entry-level smartphone: A battery with a capacity of 3,730 mAh, 16 GB of storage space, 1 GB of RAM and a quad-core processor with a maximum clock rate of 1.3 GHz. All in all, nothing for demanding smartphone users.
REALME C3
Not yet officially , but another smartphone novelty coming soon: the Realme C3 . The smartphone should provide mobile entertainment in the entry-level class. It is equipped with a drop notch display that houses the front camera. There are also at least two cameras on the back. According to a first teaser by Realme itself, the C3 is also likely to be equipped with a special gaming processor. The Chinese manufacturer will not reveal the details until February 6th.
XIAOMI SMARTPHONES NEW AT O2
And we don’t want to withhold this novelty from you either: You have been able to buy more Xiaomi smartphones at O2 for a few days . Not only with a contract, but also detached from one. O2 has the new models Mi 9 Lite , Redmi Note 8T and Mi Note 10 Pro . You have been able to secure the Xiaomi Mi 9 for a long time .
