Take Samsung for example . The Korean electronics group has not only equipped other smartphones with the November patch for the Android operating system, but has also already distributed the December patch for Android across the board. And of course the wave of upgrades to Android 13 continues. But one after anonther.
SAMSUNG UPDATES: ANDROID 13 FOR MORE SMARTPHONES
The upgrade to Android 13 , together with an update to the improved user interface ( One UI 5 ), has been available for numerous other smartphones for a few days. In addition to the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and the Galaxy S10 Lite , the outdoor smartphone Galaxy XCover 5 has also received a corresponding update.
The same applies to various smartphones in the Galaxy M class: M13, M22 , M32 , M33 5G and M53 5G . And of course the A-Class, which is popular in this country, should not be missing. In addition to the Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy A52s 5G , Android 13 can now also be used on the Galaxy models A13 , A22 , A23 5G , A32 5G , A42 5G and A51 . Important: The upgrades are distributed in waves. If you are not yet able to download the new firmware, please be patient. The update is coming!
Typically, the smartphones mentioned above will also receive an update to Android’s December patch level along with the Android 13 upgrade. Samsung is only distributing the December patch these days – detached from an Android upgrade – for the Galaxy A90 5G , the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and various foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold4 , Z Fold3 5G and Z Flip3 5G . Also for the S-Class series S10 , S20, S21 and S22. Various smartphones that Samsung no longer provides monthly updates have also recently received the November patch. For example the Galaxy A40 , the Galaxy A71 , or thatGalaxy S10 5G .
NEW UPDATES FROM ONEPLUS
The OnePlus 10T received an upgrade to Android 13 in the form of OxygenOS 13 a few days ago . An update to OxygenOS C.22 has been rolling out for the OnePlus 10 Pro for a few days . It brings the November patch with it, but also improves the general performance of the smartphone, the manufacturer promises. In addition, stability problems with WLAN connections and the camera app have been fixed.
A so-called “Stable Official Version 2” of OxygenOS 13 can now be installed on the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro . The November patch from Android is also included in this update and some minor errors in the camera software and NFC payments have been fixed. Users of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 can also look forward to an update to OxygenOS 12 C.08 . However, this update only includes the November patch for Android.
Interesting for future smartphones: New flagship models that OnePlus will present from 2023 will receive an operating system upgrade for four years. Smartphones that are factory-based on Android 13 will receive Android 14, Android 15, Android 16 and Android 17. In addition, new end devices will receive security updates for five years.
GOOGLE PIXEL FEATURE DROP DECEMBER 2022
In addition, December has a new feature drop available for users of Pixel smartphones that are still supported, starting with the Pixel 4a . This means updates for Pixel smartphones that contain more than just the current security patch for the operating system.
Among other things, a new VPN service is completely free on the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro . On all other supported Pixel smartphones, the VPN service itself is also free, but linked to a subscription to Google One Cloud. Because one of the two available premium plans is required for the VPN service, 10 euros per month are due.
The Crystal Clear Calls feature is now available for the Pixel 7 series. The smartphones not only filter out annoying background noise on the side of the pixel user, but also reduce incoming noise as much as possible and improve the voice of the conversation partner. All devices from the Pixel 6 also get an improved recording function via the recorder app, and users of Pixel smartphones can now also use three new, colorful screen backgrounds.
Pixel users will soon be able to share digital car keys with more friends and family members. What has previously only been available with other Apple pixel smartphones and iPhones will be extended to smartphones with at least Android 12 installed in the coming year.
APPLE UPDATES ITS IPHONES
All iPhone users can look forward to a really comprehensive update. Because after an update focused on security aspects was distributed a few weeks ago (iOS 16.1.2), it is now going on with iOS 16.2 . Among other things, it includes the new Freeform app for collecting ideas and unlocks the previously announced “SOS emergency call via satellite ” function on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models . iOS 15.7.2 can now also be used on older iPhones that no longer support iOS 16. It fixes several newly discovered security vulnerabilities, but otherwise brings no new features.
MORE IMPORTANT SMARTPHONE UPDATES
And there are a handful of other smartphone updates that we don’t want to withhold from you at this point. For example, the upgrade to Android 13 for the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III . The latest Android version is now also available on the Xiaomi 12 Pro . Huawei is not quite that far with the P40 Lite and P30 Pro models , but at least it is distributing the November patch for Android for these two smartphones.
