The Oscars are considered to be the most important film awards in the world. On February 9, 2020, they will be awarded for the 92nd time in Los Angeles. Due to the time difference, the Academy Awards will take place in the middle of the night according to German time. ProSieben will broadcast the award live on Monday, February 10 at 2 a.m. Would you like to get your own picture of the nominees? We introduce the films to you, show you the trailers and reveal where they are available – and where you can already see some of them.

The very big surprise did not come with the nominations for the Oscars 2020. The film with the most nominations is the comic adaptation “Joker” by director Todd Phillips. The film is nominated in a total of eleven categories.

Other films were also able to win the nominations. “The Irishman”, “1917” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Once upon a time in Hollywood” are each nominated in 10 categories. German films are not among the nominees this year.

Le Mans 66 – Against Every Chance (Ford v Ferrari)

In motorsport of the 1950s, engineers and designers tried to outdo each other with their new works. Henry Ford hires Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles to create a racing car the world has never seen.

The Irishman

Frank Sheeran works as a debt collector and problem solver for mafia boss Russel Bufalino. On Russell’s recommendation, union leader Jimmy Hoffa hires him as his bodyguard, and over time the two develop a close friendship. Then Frank gets the order to murder his boss.

Jojo Rabbit

The film is about a little boy during World War II. His only escape from reality is through his imaginary friend, a parodied version of Adolf Hitler, who reinforces his patriotic attitude. A young girl makes Jojo doubt and questions her views.

Parasite

The Kim family of four has long been unemployed and lives in a shabby basement. When the youngest offspring manages to get a job as a tutor for a wealthy family, it offers his family a way out of unemployment. The youngest son ensures that all other servants in the family are replaced by his family members. But what follows then dwarfs everything.
