In the mid-2000s, it was one of the most popular teen series. There is now a revival of “iCarly” that recently started with brand new episodes. Chaos and exciting news are the order of the day.
When the Nickelodeon series “iCarly” started in 2008, it quickly became one of the most popular teen series. The titular character lived in Seattle with her big brother Spencer; the dream of becoming famous with your own TV show. The actors are now grown – and yet “iCarly” is experiencing a revival. Now there are new episodes. Whats become of you?
ICARLY (2021) IS BACK FOR ITS SECOND SEASON
Carly, aka Miranda Cosgrove, broke through as a little girl in The School of Rock, starring Jack Black. After series such as “Drake & Josh” she played the title role of Carly Shay in “iCarly” from 2008. After four years, the end came, so that in 2012 the big series finale was broadcast. But that doesn’t seem to be the end of Carly’s story.
In 2021, the teen series experienced a revival and launched a brand new season on the Paramount+ streaming service. Joining Miranda Cosgrove are Nathan Kress as Freddie and Jerry Trainer as Carly’s brother Spencer from the previous cast. In the new edition, however, the teenage problems of the time give way to those of adults.
While Carly was still broadcasting her own TV show from her childhood room and Spencer was a hitherto unsuccessful artist, the tide has turned for the siblings. Spencer is making money from his art and Carly has moved back to Seattle where she still runs an online channel. Together with her roommate Harper, she once again lives in Bushwell Plaza, the building where the characters lived at the time. After a failed start-up and divorces, Freddie also moves back to Bushwell Plaza, where he is forced to live with his mother again.
Despite the days when Freddie, Carly and then-girlfriend Sam broadcast their own TV show from their childhood bedrooms, their late 20’s life hasn’t gotten any less chaotic. In Season 2, Carly in particular wants a break from romance and hustle and bustle and is trying to give her online career a boost.
