The Razer Barracuda X looks at first glance hardly like an ordinary gaming headset brand. And yet it is very much one. Find out what the Barracuda X is all about and what it can offer you here.

A headset for on the go

The Razer Barracuda X is a 4-in-1 wireless headset. This means the Barracuda X is compatible across four consoles. This includes PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Android phones. With this high compatibility of the headset, Razer accommodates many gamers who have long wanted a plug-and-play headset over several consoles.

Razer does this because the Barracuda’s wireless dongle only a USB- needs C port instead of a standard USB-A port. For gamers, this means that they can not only connect the headset to their PC or console as usual, but can now also easily connect it to their mobile phone. Nowadays, most cell phones, PC cases and consoles come with a USB-C connection, which enables high and far-reaching compatibility.

The Razer Barracuda X is compatible with 4 platforms via USB-C dongle.

However, if this is not the case for you, the headset will still be delivered with a USB-A to USB-C extender. The extender is 1.5 meters long, which ensures that the dongle can be flexibly positioned for the best reception. Furthermore, the Razer Barracuda X offers 20 hours of battery life and thus promises use over a whole day.

Razer Barracuda X – Compact and Elegant

At first glance, the design of the Razer Barracuda X is quite simple. Instead of the usual, very heavy and large design of other Razer headsets, the Barracuda X only weighs about 250g. Otherwise, the design is not particularly noticeable. The headset is black and its rounded design makes it soft and flowing. Of course, as always, there is a Razer logo on the earcups.

In general, the Razer Barracuda X gives the impression of a headset, which was primarily created for use on the go. With its lightweight design and detachable microphone, it’s easy to carry around. Even when playing in public, the headset is less noticeable than other headsets from Razer, which should be an advantage for many gamers.

According to the manufacturer, comfort should also be in abundance. With memory foam padding, which adapts to your head and flexible, movable ear cups, it is ensured that your headset really fits you. The memory foam pad also achieves maximum noise isolation, which is essential for gaming on the go. The quick controls on the ear cups include volume up and down and a toggle for muting the microphone.

What’s in the Barracuda X?

The Barracuda X runs with the Razer TriForce 40mm Audio Driver, which promises high-end performance. These are the same drivers that were previously installed in other, award-winning Razer headsets. The headset also offers 7.1 surround sound, which is a great advantage especially for players who play competitive shooters. Thanks to the surround sound, you always know where your opponent is and can accurately assign noises and steps spatially.

As already known from other Razer headsets, the sound of the Barracuda X focuses primarily on bass frequencies below 100Hz. When gaming, this creates stronger rumble without the volume being set too high. According to Razer, however, it has been ensured that the bass does not flow into the mid-range and possibly other frequencies there contaminate .

The Barracuda X impresses with its portable design.

If you combine that with the Razer HyperClear microphone, which promises clear audio communication, you get a solid headset – at least on paper. Mobile gamers in particular are likely to be enthusiastic about the new headset. A lot can be achieved here due to the portable design and the high performance.

With a price of 99.99 euros, the Barracuda X is at the lower end of the price range compared to other Razer headsets. In terms of price, the headset can also keep up with products from other manufacturers that offer less broad connectivity.

For the price you not only get the headset itself, but also all the accessories you need. Included is the wireless USB-C dongle, the USB-A to USB-C charging cable, the 1.5 meter long USB-A to USB-C extender and a 3.5mm audio combo cable as well as the detachable microphone.
