Even before the presentation in Germany, realme stole the show in a certain way – because the company launched the new flagship in China some time ago. Except for a few details, the technical equipment was already clear in advance. The manufacturer describes the new realme GT 5G as a “flagship killer”. Does it sound familiar to you? This is not surprising, as OnePlus has also advertised its new smartphones as the “flagship killer” in recent years. Especially in the early years of the start-up.
But ignoring the slogan, the realme GT 5G wants to score with numerous technical refinements – that would be: the 5G processor from Qualcomm, 12 GB RAM and Super AMOLED display. We’ll show you the functions in detail.
REALME GT 5G: PREMIUM FLAGSHIP WITH HIGH-QUALITY EQUIPMENT
When it comes to the new 5G flagship, realme has no slouch and installs the brand new Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm . The octa-core processor is also used in the Xiaomi Mi 11 or this year’s flagships from Sony or Motorola . It enables the realme GT 5G to have 5G connectivity. Dual-channel, i.e. the parallel use of 5G and WLAN , is also on board, as is Wi-Fi 6 . To support the processor, 12 GB of RAM are optionally installed. Depending on the model, 128 or 256 GB storage capacity is available for photos, videos and other content.
The Super AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.43 inches sounds promising. The panel has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels in Full HD + quality and extends over almost the entire front. The maximum brightness is 1,000 nits; The more important highlight in this case is the screen refresh rate of 120 Hertz.
Compared to the realme 8 Pro , the manufacturer is also tweaking the screws when it comes to the battery. Although the battery size of 4,500 mAh does not change the capacity, the realme GT offers better energy management, at least on paper. In addition to some setting options, the battery can be fully charged within 35 minutes using the 65 watt SuperDart – the house’s fast charging technology. The fast charging technology with 50 watts built into the realme 8 Pro was only moderately convincing in the test. A detailed test has to show how it behaves with the realme GT 5G.
THE CAMERA CAN DO THAT
If most flagships come with more than three camera lenses, users have to “limit” themselves to three modules. But that does not mean an interruption, on the contrary. Sony’s IMX 682 sensor with 64 megapixels takes photos behind the main lens with an f / 1.8 aperture. This is supported by an ultra-wide-angle camera with 8 megapixels and a field of view of 119 degrees. The third in the group is the macro camera, which is equipped with 2 megapixels.
For selfie fans, there is a 16-megapixel in-display camera on the front. The functions of the cameras include a night mode, HDR and portrait mode as well as AI photography.
PORTS AND CONNECTIVITY
In terms of connections and connectivity, the realme GT 5G doesn’t have to hide behind the competition. In addition to the already mentioned 5G, the smartphone also offers the latest Bluetooth standard 5.2, NFC, GPS as well as its common alternatives and a dual SIM option. The software basis is Android 11 in combination with the user interface realme UI 2.0.
