There are quite a few new smartwatches these days . Now more wearables innovations are announced, some of which are expensive, but some are also comparatively affordable. For example, the Japanese manufacturer Citizen used the CES electronics trade fair in Las Vegas to present an improved version of the well-known CZ Smart smartwatch model.

CITIZEN CZ SMART: WEAR OS SAYS HELLO

The Citizen CZ Smart has been known since 2020. Now the successor to the smartwatch is announced. The 2023 version of the CZ Smart is no longer only available with a 46 millimeter case, but in two sizes. In addition to a classic 41 mm model, there will also be a sports version with a 44 mm case and a wider bezel. However, the case is not waterproof in either of the two versions. If the watch is paired with a smartphone (Android or iOS), it should also be possible to make calls directly on the wrist using the watch.

Google WearOS is used as the operating system, flanked by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100+ processor and 1 GB of RAM. At least 8 GB of memory is available for offline music. The round AMOLED display will be 1.3 inches, a dedicated GPS receiver is also on board, as is NFC for contactless payment. In the USA , where availability is expected from March, the watch costs between 325 and 405 euros , depending on the version . The battery life is said to be – unfortunately still typical for WearOS – only around one day.

FOSSIL GEN 6 WELLNESS EDITION: HYBRID SMARTWATCH WITH ANALOG HANDS

Does a wristwatch with an analog dial and smart functions appeal to you more? Then the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition might be the right wearable for you. For 299 euros, it offers a 44-millimeter case based on WearOS and a round, 1.3-inch AMOLED display (416 x 416 pixels). Loudspeakers and a microphone enable phone calls on the wrist, GPS and NFC are also on board, as is a WLAN interface. The manufacturer promises an average running time of 14 days for this new smartwatch, a 1.43-inch AMOLED display (466 x 466 pixels) and water resistance of at least 3 ATM. In addition to heart rate, the watch also tracks blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and allows access to more than 100 sport profiles.
