The series “The Last Of Us” is currently delighting numerous fans and critics around the world. The first season is only a few episodes old when there is already good news about a sequel.
Series fans who are now pretty bored by “The Walking Dead” and the numerous spin-offs have been able to rely on a zombie series of a different kind for a few weeks: “The Last Of Us”. Based on the computer game of the same name, the undead also wander through an apocalyptic world. However, not at a snail’s pace, but much faster; turbulent pursuits included. This brings with it a new form of action that has often been sought in vain in “The Walking Dead”. The first season of “The Last Of Us” has been running on Sky and the connected streaming service Wow since mid-January and it is already clear: A second season will follow soon.
SEASON 1 OF THE LAST OF US IS HUGELY SUCCESSFUL
The first season of “The Last Of Us” is already a huge success in the USA . Only “House of the Dragon” was even more successful on HBO. According to the broadcaster, the series on Sky also got off to a great start in Germany. In Germany, too, only “House of the Dragon” was even more successful on the Sky platform and the streaming service Wow. So it’s not surprising that the makers behind the series have already announced the start of the second season.
HBO manager Francesca Orsi is already on fire. The producers succeeded in defining a genre with the first season of “The Last Of Us”. “After this unforgettable first season, I can hardly wait to see how the team surpasses itself again in season 2.” In Germany, among other places, the series was recently celebrated in reviews with surprisingly clear words. For example, the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” wrote: “From now on, game adaptations must be measured against ‘The Last Of Us’.”
WHAT IS THE LAST OF US ABOUT ANYWAY?
“The Last Of Us” is not only special because of the sometimes extremely impressive pictures. Also against the background that the action drama series continuously awakens memories of the corona pandemic, it provides some goose bumps moments.
The series’ story takes place 20 years after modern civilization was struck and subsequently destroyed by a devastating fungal epidemic. Black marketeer Joel, turned brutal, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a quarantine zone. Because Ellie has also been infected with the fungus, but does not turn into a zombie.
ELLIE IS TO SAVE HUMANITY
The young girl is therefore the great hope for all of the remaining humanity, which is eagerly awaiting an antidote. Because a free life without closed, strictly guarded and authoritarian quarantine zones is only conceivable with an antidote. Only Joel and Ellie have to face new challenges and fight for survival on their journey to the goal.
