Three reasons: These Teufel headphones are the ultimate everyday companion

When new in-ear headphones are required, well-known manufacturers such as Sony, JBL, Sennheiser or Teufel immediately come to mind. But all that glitters is not always gold. So there are black sheep among the pioneers. The Teufel Real Blue TWS 2 are undoubtedly not one of them. Our test shows it.

The market for in-ear headphones is large and confusing. You can find everything from traditional manufacturers such as Teufel or JBL to no-name products, from headphones for 20 euros to models for well over 300 euros. But which of these is really recommended? We tested the Teufel Real Blue TWS 2. They cost 150 euros, offer active noise cancellation (ANC) and should deliver an excellent sound if you rely on the Teufel brand name. But is that true?

FIT AND COMFORT

The fit and wearing comfort are of crucial importance for the enjoyment of music, especially with in-ear headphones. Because: If the plugs are so uncomfortable in the ear canal that you can’t stand it for more than a few minutes or if they slip out after a few steps, listening to music is no fun. Teufel delivers the Real Blue TWS 2 with six differently sized silicone attachments.

The headphones nestle neatly in the ears

Once you have found the right rubber mushrooms that fit your ears, the headphones neither press nor slip out of the ear canal. They are light as a feather in your ears. In this way, you can listen to several records one after the other without thinking: Now the cochlea needs some oxygen.

OPERATING THE HEADPHONES

Once you have found out how the Teufel Real Blue TWS 2 can be operated or alternatively take a look at the operating instructions, you will like the concept. Because instead of buttons, all commands can be implemented by typing. Tap once right: louder. Tap once left: quieter. Double tap right or left: play and pause. Tap and hold: Switch between ANC and transparency mode. There are also tip combos for skipping songs, answering phone calls and calling up the language assistant.

The operation of the Real Blue TWS 2 in one word: easy.

The response after tapping could be a little faster. So a tick too much time passes after the double tap for the music to be paused. And so you think, especially at the beginning, that the headphones didn’t react and you tap on them again. This leads to a play-pause carousel from which you can only escape if you stop typing. But then you know the delay and know how to deal with it.

THE SOUND OF THE HEADPHONES

In the neutral setting, the highs could be a bit too clear and dominant for some music lovers. We therefore recommend that you install the Teufel Headphones app on your cell phone. There is an equalizer here that allows you to change this. The bass can be clearly felt. Depending on the song and genre, it rattles out of the headphones in a similarly powerful manner, as one is used to from Teufel and its Bluetooth speakers such as the Rockster Cross ( tested here ).

The mids, on the other hand, could use a little more power. Together with a little less exaggerated highs, a more homogeneous and warmer sound would result. The Teufe Real Blue TWS 2 are precise, clean and – depending on the genre – powerful. While some would describe it as very detailed, it might be too clear for others. In the end, your own preference also plays a role.

THE ANC OF THE DEVILS REAL BLUE TWS 2

Anyone who needs headphones that almost completely block out ambient noise even at minimum volume is in the wrong place with the Teufel Real Blue TWS 2. Don’t get me wrong: the ANC works and reduces the noise. But it doesn’t compare to the ANC found on top-of -the- line Sony or Bose models. Both the ANC of the Sony WF-1000XM4 (tested here ) and that of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II ( tested here ) are far more effective. However, one must also note: The Teufel Real Blue TWS 2 also cost significantly less than the expensive ANC cars at 150 euros.

THE BATTERY LIFE AND THE CASE OF THE HEADPHONES

What we like: The case of the Teufel Real Blue TWS 2 is quite compact and fits in any trouser pocket. Although you have to do without wireless charging via Qi, this is not important for most users anyway. On the front, three LEDs indicate the charging status of the headphones and the plastic cabinet.

The case of the Teufel Real Blue TWS 2 is compact and well made

Teufel specifies a runtime of eight hours for its headphones. With the ANC switched on, up to six hours should be possible. Our test largely confirms this information. Of course, the volume also has something to do with it. But a running time of six hours is probably enough for even the slowest marathon runner to listen to their favorite records during the race. Apropos: If you get caught in a rain shower, the headphones shouldn’t give up the ghost right away, as they are IPX3 certified and therefore protected against spray water.

TEUFEL REAL BLUE TWS 2 IN THE TEST: THE CONCLUSION

The Teufel Real Blue TWS 2 sit comfortably in the ear canal and let you listen to several records in a row without ventilation problems in the cochlea. The sound is detailed, but also a bit cold. The ANC is there, but far less effective than in the in-ear competition from Sony, Bose and Co. All in all, you ca n’t go wrong for 150 euros . Whether it’s your favorite record on the train or the latest episode of a podcast while running: the headphones are the ultimate everyday companion, also because of their small case, the long battery life and the sound, which should suit every listener.
