Train: This will soon no longer be possible while driving

Disturbances and delays are part of the daily routine at Deutsche Bahn. Travelers often have to be patient. In addition, after the end of the 9-euro ticket, many find it too expensive to travel by train. And now there is another savings measure by the railways.

High prices and delays: For many travelers, these are the main reasons why they do not take the train. A recent survey revealed that almost a third of all customers do not take the train because it is unreliable. And they are not wrong about that. A statistic shows: Last year , Deutsche Bahn took it to the extreme when it came to unpunctuality. Many people also worry about not being able to get a seat during a trip and having to stand all the time. And after the end of the 9-euro ticket, which made train travel popular again, many are back in their cars. Now, with a small detail, the railway is providing further savings.

DEUTSCHE BAHN: PRICES UP, SERVICE DOWN?

On December 11, Deutsche Bahn will once again increase ticket prices – and that sharply. On average, tickets are then charged around 5 percent more. But that doesn’t mean that the trains suddenly arrive on time. And while customers have to pay more for a ticket on regional trains, ICE and Co., they get less. Because, as Der Spiegel reports, the railways are to discontinue their print magazine “DB Mobil”. After 261 issues, the Deutsche Bahn customer magazine will no longer be available in printed form on the trains.

As the railway announced this week, the December issue should be the last magazine to be displayed on the trains. “Many now prefer to use a laptop or smartphone,” explains Head of Marketing Jürgen Kornmann. “We are now following this trend.” From January, DB Mobil is to have an even greater presence on new channels and with new content. The website dbmobil.de will be relaunched for this purpose. The aim is to show passengers more about sustainable mobility.

DIGITAL BETTER?

It remains to be hoped that you will have reception on the train so that you can reach the site and the magazine at all. In addition: As far as digital is concerned, Deutsche Bahn is currently faced with a lawsuit before the Frankfurt Regional Court. She is accused of illegally tracking customers via the app, DB Navigator. “As soon as the app is called up, a lot of data about usage behavior is recorded,” explains Peter Hense, lawyer for IT and data protection law, who represents the plaintiffs. The Stiftung Warentest also came to the conclusion in the middle of the year: “DB Navigator transmits more data than necessary”.
