Unrivaled: This mobile phone dominates the leaderboard

Countless smartphones are designed, produced, presented and put on the market every year. But only one mobile phone can top our list of the best at any one time. This position has belonged to a specific cell phone for several months.

Samsung Galaxy A52

Our smartphone leaderboard shows which devices are currently particularly popular . The algorithm behind it counts the data sheet views of the past ten weeks and assigns them a certain value. The older the call, the less important it is for the ranking. The bottom line is that the best list reflects the current interest of our readers in certain smartphones and thus their popularity. A smartphone has long been the undisputed most popular mobile phone.

SAMSUNG GALAXY A52 – MR. UNIVERSE 2021

The mid-range smartphone Samsung Galaxy A52 has been available in German stores since March 17, 2021. However, the device fought its way to first place on our best list in April and has not left it since. The success of the smartphone can mainly be attributed to an excellent price-performance ratio. In the test, however, the display, the camera, the loudspeakers and the protection against dust and water were convincing. As a mid-range model, the device also has some weaknesses. These include, in particular, a long charging time, the lack of a Qi function and a non-existent telephoto lens.

SAMSUNG AND XIAOMI – THE TOP DOGS IN THE LEADERBOARD

Another special feature of our current leaderboard is that it is anything but varied. Two manufacturers dominate this with an iron determination. The first 22 places in our list of the best are currently occupied exclusively by Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones. There are only three devices from other manufacturers in the top 35 – the Huawei P30 Pro , the OnePlus Nord and the Sony Xperia 5 II .

About a year ago the picture looked completely different. At that time it was mainly Samsung and Huawei mobile phones that took the top spots. This is also confirmed by a Statista survey published at the end of 2020. According to this, 41 percent of Germans used a Samsung device as their main cell phone , while 24 percent used an Apple , 17 percent a Huawei and only 3 percent a Xiaomi cell phone.

Why Apple does so badly in our list of the best is easy to explain: On the one hand, Apple does not release too many smartphones each year and, on the other hand, this mostly only happens at the end of the year. As a result, there is not too much interest in July. With Huawei, on the other hand, things get a little more complicated. Because of the trade dispute between China and the US, Huawei cell phones are not allowed to use Google services such as Google Maps, Gmail and the Play Store. Since then, interest in Huawei devices has fallen so rapidly that, according to statistics from the research company Counterpoint Research, in the first quarter of 2021 in Europe they even fell behind Realme (2 percent market share) in terms of sales . And inHome market will also be gloomy . This is also reflected in our list of the best.

MORE VARIETY IN THE FUTURE?

Some well-known cell phone manufacturers such as HTC and LG have withdrawn from the smartphone business in the past few years, while others have cut their production – such as Sony and Motorola . For this reason, several Chinese companies have recently turned their attention to the European market apart from Xiaomi. These include Oppo , Vivo and Realme , among others . In the near future, the German smartphone market could be a bit more colorful again.
