Volvo C40 Recharge: Price for high quality First Edition finally known

It’s not a bargain, but it offers a lot of power and a coupé-like design: the electrified Volvo C40 Recharge. You can now order the crossover model from the Swedish manufacturer. We’ll tell you the details about the price and features of the First Edition.

You can now order the Volvo C40 Recharge.

It was four months ago that Volvo presented its second electric car. The Volvo C40 Recharge is next to the Volvo XC40 Recharge , which was presented in 2019, but is a little more compact. Its aim is to attract customers in the crossover segment, which is popular in Europe. And now Volvo has also revealed what the C40 Recharge should cost in the First Edition, which is initially available . The standard equipment not only includes all-wheel drive and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. A sound system from Harman Kardon with 600 watts of power, 13 loudspeakers and subwoofer as well as extended ambient lighting is also installed ex works.

VOLVO C40 RECHARGE PURE ELECTRIC: FIRST EDITION AVAILABLE NOW

The electric car is now available for prices starting at around 62,000 euros. But you can deduct an expanded manufacturer’s share of the German environmental bonus from this , so that the price can be reduced to just under 57,900 euros in the best case. And from this you can subtract the 5,000 euros that the German state reimburses after a corresponding application for the purchase of an electric car for a net list price of 40,000 euros. In purely mathematical terms, you can currently buy the Volvo C40 Recharge at a price starting at just under 52,900 euros.

However, only the black model is available at these conditions. Six other available paint finishes cost an extra charge of at least 750 euros. If you prefer 20-inch rims instead of 19-inch tires, you have to pay 660 euros extra. Tinted side and rear windows cost 390 euros extra and an interior with a man-made leather comes with a surcharge of up to 1,780 euros.

The manufacturer specifies the power of the Volvo C40 Recharge as 300 kW (408 hp) with a maximum torque of 660 Nm. Two electric motors are installed on the front and rear axles. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h is possible in 4.7 seconds, according to Volvo, and the top speed is limited to 180 km / h. Should there one day come to a speed limit on the autobahns in Germany, as in all of Europe, whether the car is 130, 150 or 180 km / h fast plays a subordinate role.

The Volvo C40 Recharge is a typical crossover model with more ground clearance.

UP TO 420 KILOMETERS RANGE AND A MAXIMUM OF 150 KW CHARGING POWER

Much more relevant: the range. And that is what Volvo specifies with the C40 Recharge

with up to 420 kilometers. However, the manufacturer promises: This value could increase in the future with the four years of free software updates. The average WLTP consumption per 100 kilometers is 22 kWh. A charging cable with a length of 7 meters required for charging the built-in 78 kWh battery is included in the scope of delivery. You can also plug it into a 220V household socket.

Alternatively, you can opt for a Type 2 Mode 3 charging cable (4.5 meters) for charging at public charging stations with up to 11 kW – but only if you add it to the equipment free of charge during the ordering process. Incidentally, the maximum possible charging power of the Volvo C40 Recharge at fast charging stations is 150 kW.

From a purely visual point of view, the roofline sloping towards the rear of the Volvo C40 Recharge is particularly striking. The same can be said of the pixel LED headlights that come to customers in “Thor’s Hammer” design – similar to the recently introduced concept vehicle for the electrified future, the Volvo Concept Recharge .

For the necessary safety on board the Volvo C40 Recharge, radar, camera and ultrasonic sensors are on board. In addition to an automatic emergency braking system with cyclist and pedestrian detection, an adaptive cruise control system, an active lane departure warning system, traffic sign recognition and road edge detection to protect against unintentional leaving the lane are available.

An entertainment system based on Google Android is used in the interior of the Volvo C40 Recharge
