“We The People” – Obama’s Independence Day series

In time for American Independence Day, a new series is coming to Netflix that deals with political issues. Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama were involved.

Former President of the United States Barack Obama worked on a series with his wife Michelle Obama and Netflix . “We The People” will deal with various civil rights issues. In addition, the 10 episodes from Independace Day can be seen on Netflix .

WE THE PEOPLE

To bring politics a little closer to the younger generation, Obamas and Netflix produced 10 episodes of around three minutes in length. These are animated recordings that are musically stored. In principle, the series consists of 10 music videos on political topics. Some musical voices, composers and a poet were involved in the production. Young, aspiring lyric poet Amanda Gorman made an appearance at the inauguration of Joe Biden.

Musical contributions were made by Bebe Rexha, HER, Cordae, Kyle, Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe, Andra Day, Adam Lambert, Lin-Mauel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Brittany Howard, Kirsten Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The trailer for the series “We The People” provides a first foretaste of the songs.

The trailer shows that the creative minds behind it were allowed to let off steam. There appear to be different styles of animation in the animated series. Due to the many different artists, “We The People” delivers different styles of music, so there should be something for everyone.

BACKSTAGE

A total of ten directors are also involved behind the scenes of “We The People”. Peter Ramsey, who was also involved in the animated film “The Guardians of Light”, is there. There are also nine other names: Trisha Gum, Victoria Vincent, Benjy Brooke, Mabel Ye, Tim Rauch, Jorge R. Gutierrez, Daron Nefcy, Everett Downing and Kendra Ryan. In addition to Michelle and Barack Obama, Chris Nee and Kenya Barris were also involved as executive producers. Chris Nee is best known from children’s television, especially for her show “Doc McStuffins”. Well-known productions in which Barris was involved as a producer include “The Prince from Zamunda 2” or “Black-ish”.
